Vinous 93 points - (no new oak): Bright, light yellow. Brisk, inviting aromas of peach, fresh hazelnut, white flowers and spices. Boasts superb purity and richness, with soil-driven minerality supporting the sweet stone fruit, hazelnut and toast flavors. This dense, sappy, solid wine has a very long, spicy finish that leaves the mouth perfumed. More serious than the very promising 2013 version but in need of four or five years of cellar time. An outstanding premier cru.

Wine Advocate 92 points - The 2012 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chalumeaux, which lies just next to Blagny, has a well-defined, precise bouquet that opens in the glass to reveal attractive smoke and granite aromas. The palate is crisp and focused on the entry with touches of apricot and tangerine. There is a fine lift on the finish that is lively and long in the mouth. This is a very satisfying Puligny that I suspect will offer much pleasure in its youth. (Feb 2014)
