Buy Capezzana Carmignano Riserva Trefiano
Color: Deep ruby red Aroma: Elegant, refined and fruity with notes of spice Palate: Complex and elegant, with flavors of ripe red fruits and a pleasant acidity. Fine and well-balanced, with a lengthy finish.
James Suckling 91 points - This wine is integrated and refined and beckons you to drink it. Character of lemon rind, spices, and chocolate with dried fruits. It’s long and delicious. Drink now.  (Nov 2012)

Wine Spectator 91 points - A complex, savory red, with cherry, plum, cedar, leafy and tobacco notes. A tad dry on the finish, yet remains long and satisfying on the palate. Drink now through 2020. 2,600 cases made.-BS  (Oct 15 2014)

Vinous 90 points - The 2008 Carmignano Riserva Trefiano is a little silkier and more accessible today than the Villa di Capezzana. Dark red fruits, licorice, flowers, earthiness, tobacco, menthol and new leather are all woven together in a relatively soft wine to drink over the next few years.  (Aug 2013)

Wine maker notes
This is also a D.O.C.G. Carmignano wine, but produced in lesser quantities since it is made from the five hectares of vineyards surrounding the villa (built by the famous Buontalenti architect for the counts Rucellai) on the small Trefiano estate, which lies a few kilometres from Capezzana and is owned by the Contini Bonacossi. It is made from Sangiovese, Cabernet and Canaiolo.
