Opens with floral and spice notes on the nose and palate. A generous, creamy mouthfeel complements a nice ripeness and intense richness. The wine is ample, smooth and well balanced, with a vivid, spicy finish. With age, it will gain in richness and fully reveal itself.
Vinous 91 points - Musky, very ripe aromas of stone fruits, pineapple, smoky minerality and truffle, complicated by a hint of grapefruit and a touch of oak. Suave and thick but light on its feet, with pineapple and grapefruit flavors joined by a hint of white rose. Finishes with an exhilarating grapefruit zest bitterness. Lovely strong wine with early appeal as well as good aging potential. The Ferret Perrieres is typically powerful and high in alcohol but this version is a relatively moderate 13.4%.
Les Perrieres is situated on a sloping southeast exposure just above the Le Clos parcel, and has limestone and young clay soils. The vines are an average of 35 years old. The wine is fermented in oak barrels before further barrel maturation, a part of it on the lees.
