Wine Spectator 88 points - A dense, gutsy effort, ragged and tannic around the edges but appealing for the rich core and overall density and depth. Offers a mix of dark berry, cedar, gravel and dried herb flavors. A muscular, tannic wine. Drink now through 2021. 496 cases made.-JL

Vinous 91 points - Deep red-ruby. Brambly purple fruits, minerals and strong oak on the nose. Huge, thick and unsubtle, with undeniably mouthfilling flavors of cherry and briary dark berries. Pinot in a burly style, closer to Chateauneuf du Pape. For all the wine’s power, its healthy acidity and big but well-distributed tannins give it a seamless texture. The label says 14.9% alcohol, but winemaker Hall says it’s really 15.9%.
