On the nose, Perenzo possesses a fruity bouquet with sweet spicy notes typical of Syrah such as licorice. This is a big, intense wine with elegant tannins rounding out the finish.
Wine Enthusiast 88 points - This Syrah opens with aromas of scorched earth, ripe black-skinned fruit, game and dark cooking spice. The dense palate offers blackberry, black currant, licorice and tobacco alongside firm but fine-grained tannins.  (May 2015)

Wine Spectator 92 points - Dense and fleshy, this effusive, fruity red sports black cherry, black currant, leather, tobacco and mineral flavors. Firm and intense, with a long, cherry- and spice-filled finish. Best from 2015 through 2022. 675 cases made.-BS  (Oct 15 2013)

Wine maker notes
Made “for Enzo,” the proprietor’s father, Perenzo bears his name and favorite color on the label. The dark fruit is accented by peppery notes. Baking spices and licorice complement these aromas to create a harmonious bouquet. An opulent wine with a long polished finish marked by fine, elegant tannins. Aged in new, medium-toasted French oak barrels for 14-18 months and cellared for 6 months in bottle prior to release.

Other text
Named for Agostino Lenciís, the proprietorís, father Enzo. The purple reflected on the label was chosen as it was his favorite color.

Food pairing
Try with peppered grilled red meats and game or aged cheeses.
