Made from grapes grown in the cool, coastal region of Monterey. The wine is barrel-fermented in small, French oak barrels and aged sur lie for 12 months.
The wine has a crisp acidity and intense tropical fruit, hallmarks of the region from which it is grown. Clean toasty notes of oak and vanilla lead to a lively finish. Serve chilled with a variety of seafood, poultry and veal.
Mandolin is a collaboration between veteran winemaker Philip Zorn and longtime wine executive Brent Shortridge. Zorn brings a European perspective to Mandolin wines. Born in the U.S. and raised in Germany, Zorn attended the nation’s top school of enology and worked at noted producer Weingut Pieroth. Brent Shortridge had no intention of entering the wine business until a summer job at Sonoma’s Buena Vista Winery changed his life. After working with legendary winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff, Shortridge knew that wine was his calling and stayed at Buena Vista, first as a chemist, then in exports and finance, eventually becoming the winery’s vice president of marketing. Bringing together their previously established relationships with grape growers in California’s Monterey County, the wines stand out for their balance, finesse, varietal character, and their sense of place. Mandolin wines are recognized as outstanding values.
