Color - Ruby red with violet nuances
Bouquet - Bright aromas of fresh cherries mingle with notes of thyme and subtle smoky nuances
Taste - Bright acid structure providing a lively quality. Cranberry, raspberry and red cherry dominate with hints of leather, cedar and cocoa powder. Some earthiness in the finish and ripe soft tannin
Vinous 88 points - The 2012 Chianti Classico Riserva Ser Lapo is a pretty, lifted wine that shows the more gracious, feminine side of Sangiovese in this vintage. Crushed flowers, sweet red cherries and mint are laced together in the glass, but, like many wines in this vintage, the Ser Lapo is ultimately a bit lacking in mid-palate pliancy and overall depth.
