Wine Advocate 87 points - Lively amber-edged red. Spicy red berries, licorice and dried flowers on the nose. Precise, penetrating flavors of raspberry, smoky oak, spices and peppery underbrush show a whiff of flinty reduction. This energetic, moderately intense wine gained markedly in breadth and complexity with aeration.
The 2014 Sangiovese is an IGT Terre degli Osci wine that has enjoyed a long string of successful releases over the past decade or so. This particular vintage is slightly less intense in terms of bouquet and mouthfeel, yet you still get a very good view of the Sangiovese grape. The wine presents sharp contours with bright berry nuances, sour cherry and moist chewing tobacco. A pretty blast of acidity appears on the finish.
Dievole is considered among the top producers in Tuscany. Vendemmia Chianti Classico is a blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% other native Tuscan grapes, hand-harvested from all 16 of Dievole's vineyards. Dievole Vendemmia Chianti Classico is deep ruby red in color with a fruity nose of dark berries, ginger, white pepper and spice. Medium-full in body with moderate acidity and lean tannins, this red offers flavors of black cherry, blackberry, chocolate, and smoke, with well integrated sweet oak.
