Buy Santa Ema Carmenere Amplus One
Color Deep ruby red with violet nuances. Aroma Expressive and long, recalling red and black cherries, prunes and a touch of tobacco and pencil shavings. Palate Well-structured and powerful, with well-rounded tannins that lead to a voluminous and seductive finish.
Wine Advocate 88 points - The 2009 Amplus One is a blend of 75% Carmenere, 20% Syrah and 5% Carignan that sees 12 months in barrel. It offers a mocha-scented bouquet with a dash of white pepper and cumin, the oak nicely integrated into the fruit profile. The palate is medium-bodied with a sharp entry and rather brusque, aggressive tannins towards the finish. Drink now-2017. (Dec 2012)

Wine maker notes
Amplus is a Latin word that means important, honorable, and distinguished—concepts that clearly define the wines in Santa Ema’s Amplus line. They are more concentrated and have more fruit expression due to the naturally low yielding vines. An interesting, complex, and expressive wine, with an intense violet-red color. Attractive aromas of red and black cherries and red currant, along with notes of tobacco, dark chocolate, and graphite. Amplus Carmenere is potent, with well-rounded tannins that lend a voluminous, ripe, and seductive finish, with all of the typicity and special distinction of the Cachapoal Valley.

Food pairing
