Wine Advocate 92 points - The 2014 Riesling Semi Dry comes in with 18 grams per liter of residual sugar. As things go in the Finger Lakes, that makes it often dry-ish, but not particularly sugary. Sourced from Martini Family Vineyard, this shows off its fine concentration and rounded mid-palate, but the acidity defines everything. This Riesling takes the sugar and reduces it to a role player next to the superb concentration and fine structure. True, the winery’s ”Art Series” shows better concentration as a rule, but at this price level, this is a steal. Admittedly, it must age and develop well to justify my enthusiasm in the long run. We’ll see. At worst, you’ll get a fine bargain instead of an amazing one. In FLX overall, I haven’t always liked the semi-dry offerings as much as the dry ones--the balance often seems a bit off. Not here. There were, happily, 550 cases made.
