Wine Advocate 92 points - The 2009 Late Bottled Vintage Port was bottled in June 2014. It is a blend of Touriga Nacional (35%), Tinta Roriz (35%) and Touriga Franca (30%) from a big, hot vintage which featured the driest September in 22 years, said Coutinho. Maybe its just the youthful exuberance, but--in the context of Portal’s more recent style-this is a sexy beast just now. Yet, it also illustrates the difference, I suspect, between Portal in 2000 and Portal today, because this is also beautifully balanced, a bit restrained and very focused. I was initially happy, but underwhelmed. Eventually, I came to think this was the best of Portal’s modern group that I’ve tasted (2007 and up), by a hair, to be sure. Maybe the verdict will change as they keep evolving. In the meanwhile... Firm and tight on the finish, it still finishes with a rush of sweetness making it irresistibly delicious. If it doesn’t seem rich and deep per se, it doesn’t lack for sex appeal. It is bursting with flavor and well structured at the same time. It evolved and got better over several days and over several hours on each day. The more air it got, the more intense and powerful it seemed. This really needs a couple of years in the cellar for best results, despite the late bottling. Yes, you can certainly drink it now because it is also just plain delicious. You’ll be better off waiting, though, because it should still improve in the bottle over the next few years. Of course, it’s an LBV. Buy a few. Decant it and have one tonight. The price is nice and so is the wine. (Feb 2015)

Wine maker notes
These are wines produced in years of excellent quality and are aged longer in wood than Vintage Port. They are bottled four years after the harvest. Red in colour, they are full bodied, smooth and with a fruity bouquet. Our LBVs are bottled unfiltered so decanting is recommended as during the course of the years the wine will throw deposit.

Quinta do Portal is a family fine winemaking company that embraced with passion the “Boutique Winery” concept. We proudly produce DOC Douro wines, premium Port Wines and Moscatel. This project that started in the early 90’s of the XX century, had on its base a centenary estate where our family has been producing Port since the last years of the XIX century. Our commitment to the production of quality wines has been, since the first moment, the heart and soul of Quinta do Portal. This effort, passion and dedication have been recognized both at a national and international level during the course of the years.
