Vinous 88 points - Dark red. Aromas of redcurrant, plum, mocha and chocolaty oak. Good peppery lift to the brisk flavors of currant, dark cherry, tobacco leaf and woodsmoke. In a cooler, more medicinal style than the 2012, consistent with the ’13 vintage, but with good intensity and definition. Finishes with a firm tannic spine and good lift.
The M in this wine’s name represents the word Mendoza and indicates that this is a blend of varietals from Mendoza, Argentina. It also pays tribute to the overlying guise of Mystery that is Alma Negra. Predominantly Bonarda, this blend changes from vintage to vintage and is the wineries primary cuvee.
