The rose, strawberry and cherry aromas are elegantly framed by hints of tobacco and earth. A pure and delicate effort that captures the heart of Barolo.
Albe Barolo is Created with a selection of grapes from each of the estate's Nebbiolo Vineyards. The result is an elegant, distinctive young wine with generous aromas of red berries, anise and rose petals. Rich flavors of cherry, orange peel and oak are supported by a strong mineral backbone, bold acidity and firm tannins.
|Albe is a blend of grapes from three estate vineyards located in commune of Barolo – Fossati, Coste di Vergne and La Volta. The hand-picked, triple sorted fruit was fermented and macerated for 20 days in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks with punch downs. The wine aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for 42 months and exhibits the classic lines and transparency of fruit that are the hallmarks of wines from this estate.
|The estate of G.D. Vajra, situated in Vergne the highest village in the Commune of Barolo, was
established in 1972 by Giuseppe Domenico. Milena and Aldo Vaira are the current owners.
Both have worked the vineyards since the early 1970s. Vajra currently owns 40 sustainably
farmed hectares in such strategic spots as Bricco delle Viole, Fossati, La Volta, Coste di Vergne.
The vineyards are planted with Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and Barbera at elevations between 350-400
meters, which results in distinctive and aromatic wines. Their philosophy remains faithful to the
traditional wines of Piedmont. "I try to make wines that give people joy. In the past wine was a
food, it was necessary for sustenance. Today that is not the case; we choose to drink for
pleasure. I want to make wines that bring people happiness.” ~ Aldo Vajra
