Wine Spectator 92 points - A flashy style, accented by spicy, toasty oak, this features a tight, dense mix of red and dark berry fruit at the core. Comes together on the finish, revealing sharply focused oak and berry details. Long and persistent. Drink now through 2022.óJ.L. (Feb 19 2014)

Why Pinot Noir from Morgado Cellars? I put my hands and my heart in this fruit; in the vineyard, in the bin and in the barrel. I fussed and fretted over every detail, believing that the life in this wine was special. I would dream at night of the vineyard. Is there enough sun exposure, the right amount of canapy for the grapes? Should I pull more leaves on the morning side but leave enough protection from the sun on the afternoon side? Then once the wine was pressed to barrel I wondered if I was stirring the barrels long enough, if I should rack it off it’s lees and if my fermentation was moving like it should. This was my first solo project, and I wanted it done right. Happily, I have not been disappointed. I did find myself wanting to look in on her progress a little too often, but through all of the ups and downs, this wine has finished beyond my wildest expectations. I am jump-up-and-down excited about this Pinot Noir and look forward to watching how it matures. The excellence of this special vineyard, perched high above the Petaluma gap, lives in this richly fruited, elegant and complex wine. Making wine is a passion and a love affair that feeds me and fills me with excitement. I want to expand my knowledge with every vintage and I look forward to sharing my wine with as many people as I can.
