Wine Spectator 91 points - Bright and bursting with cherry and raspberry flavors, this picks up floral accents as it builds on the palate. Fresh and pure, with tobacco and briar notes emerging on the finish. Best from 2016 through 2028. 1,250 cases made.-BS  (Jun 30 2014)

Vinous 90 points - Bright red. Enticing aromas of red berries, candied violet and red cherry syrup. Sweet and fruity, offering knockout ripe red berry and cherry flavors that linger nicely on the smooth finish; just a trace of alcoholic heat at the back. In a slightly warmer, riper style than other Brunellos but its impeccable balance and purity of fruit make this a standout in 2009.  (Jul 2014)

Wine maker notes
Brunello di Montalcino is surely one of the most well-known and treasured wines in the world. It is a red wine of extraordinary elegance and concentration obtained from a long ageing process. It has a full and ethereal fragrance with hints of wild berries, black cherry and vanilla.

Ours is a land rich in farming tradition where sharecropping families lived and worked in the countryside around Montalcino. Mauro Brunelli and Anna Savini, owners of the Brunelli Estate, both come from farming families who have always lived in Montalcino. Their families abandoned the cultivation of land at the end of the Sixties to dedicate themselves to other activities, as many locals did. In 1964, the Brunelli family moved to Martoccia a small farm of about three hectares. In 1998, together with Luca, only child of Anna and Mauro, they bought more land where they planted vines. Currently, the Brunelli Estate covers 15 hectares of land of which five are registered as Brunello di Montalcino D.O.C.G. while olive groves and forest cover the remainder of the property. Their love of the land and respect for tradition daily nourish the enthusiasm of the Brunelli family who live and work in this field.
