Among Gevrey-Chambertin's most delicate crus, this wine shows elegant, silky flavors and aromas of cherries and crushed red berries offset by subtle spice notes with a final impression of great finesse.
Vinous 91 points - Good bright, deep red. Red cherry, stony minerals, rose petal and a suggestion of chocolate mint on the nose; reminded me of a slightly earthier version of a Clos Saint-Jacques. Densely packed, saline and intense, with terrific energy and a restrained sweetness to the flavors of red fruits and minerals. A lovely precise, perfumed midweight with a slowly mounting finish offering a strong impression of soil character.
91-94 Points (Jan 2014)
Wine Advocate 91 points - The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques is more understated than the Cazetiers on the nose, unfolding to reveal more forest floor/mushroom aromas neatly entwined amongst the black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, refined, quite elegant tannins and a composed finish that is more finesse than power. Very fine. (Dec 2013)
