Wine Spectator 94 points - Beautifully aromatic and finely balanced, with ample ground spice and floral notes. The laserlike acidity creates a firm, crystalline frame for the flavors, with peach skin, guava, clover honey and fleur de sel. A pronounced vein of smoky mineral resonates on the mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2030. 150 cases made.-AN

Vinous 90 points - Golden yellow; much darker than the Hengst. Very deep aromas of smoked pork, papaya, grilled pineapple, toffee and Bourbon vanilla. Rich and chewy in the mouth, with dominant flavors of tropical fruits and smoke. Finishes oily, saline and very long. You can almost smell and taste the Rangen’s volcanic ash here. This powerful wine borders on overripe but has enough acidity to keep it dancing on the palate. Still, I would have liked a little more lift.

The Humbrecht family has been winegrowers in Alsace since 1620 but the Domaine came by its current name when Leonard Humbrecht married Genevieve Zind in 1959. Located in the heart of the Herrenweg vineyard, Leonard significantly expanded the familyís holdings to include an enviable collection of Grand Cru and other high quality vineyards. The Domaine is currently managed by Leonardís son, Olivier Humbrecht, the only Alsacian winemaker to attain M.W. status. A staunch advocate for biodynamic farming, Olivier tailors every aspect of viticulture and winemaking based on terroir. Whether a single vineyard or a blend, place and vintage are clearly and unmistakably expressed in each wine.
