We selected grapes for our Pinot Noir from prime vineyards up and down California’s Central Coast and Lodi regions. This blend of coastal fruit with warmer climate fruit creates an engaging and layered wine. On the Central Coast, we found some beautiful Pinot Noir from Monterey, San Benito and Edna Valley. These cooler sites have an affinity for this varietal, lending complexity and nuances that you can only achieve in this climate. We then added ripe, rich layers with grapes from Lodi, where temperatures are slightly warmer but balanced by cooling Delta breezes.
Like our Chardonnay, the Pinot Noir is also a Burgundian grape, delivering the finesse and flavor of its distinguished origins. We focused this style with careful grape selection, followed by stainless steel fermentation, which allowed us to retain the bright, exuberant fruit focus of the varietal. This was followed by a secondary, malolactic fermentation, which softened and rounded out the palate. To add structure and gentle spices, we aged the wine for eight months with French oak.
Slow down, exhale, and enjoy this rich, creamy Chardonnay. You deserve it! Our winemaker chose California vineyards that yield incredibly lush flavors of tropical fruit, baked apple and citrus. Sur lie aging gives this wine its soft, creamy style. Use of primarily French oak adds hints of vanilla and creme brulee on the finish, making this wine the perfect reward at the end of your day.
