Buy Carpineto Toscana Molin Vecchio
Color: dark, deep, blackish-ruby hue. Bouquet: bold and intense, with blackberries and licorice, black pepper and a hint of vanilla. Taste: full-bodied palate with exceptional red fruit intensity and spice. Big structured with well integrated, supple tannins and a long, persistent finish.
Wine Advocate 91 points - The 2006 Molin Vecchio is an evolved blend of Sangiovese, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine opens to a brooding dark color and thick, dark concentration. Despite its many years of bottle aging, this bold Tuscan red tastes much younger than it really is. The fresh conditions of the 2006 vintage have done much to preserve the integrity of the fruit that is displayed here with such confidence. Dark cherry, blackberry, licorice, spice and Spanish cedar emerge from the glass. The wine’s density is rich, plush and enduring. Although the oak is reasonably well integrated, you do feel some wood astringency on the finish.  (Oct 2015)

Wine maker notes
Named for the old flour mill nestled in the valley below the vineyard located in Montepulciano, Molin Vecchio is a estate-owned single vineyard Super Tuscan. Intense aromas of blackberry and licorice are accented by black pepper and vanilla. Luscious red fruit flavors and spice are complemented by supple, well-integrated tannins on the long, persistent finish of this full-bodied wine. Extensively aged in new French and American oak barrels for 12 months, followed by 4 years in bottle, this wine will reward additional cellaring.

Technical notes
80% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah

Food pairing
best served with roasts.

Founded in 1967, Carpineto is a partnership between Giovanni C. Sacchet and Antonio M. Zaccheo, whose original mission was to produce a world-class red wine from the Chianti Classico appellation. This was a radical departure from the marketplace of the times when most Chianti was still produced in the traditional winemaking style. Carpineto’s visionary founders recognized the untapped potential of the Tuscan landscape to produce truly great wines. By applying modern viticulture and winemaking techniques, they dramatically exceeded the quality standards of the day. Under their leadership, Carpineto developed an award winning, international reputation for elegant wines of approachable intensity and extract, as well as consistency vintage after vintage. Today Carpineto has reinforced these characteristics, while maintaining an approachable wine style due in part to an extensive bottle-aging program. In fact ”riserva” wines are bottle-aged a total of six to twelve months longer than the minimum time required by DOCG appellation rules. Today experimentation goes hand in hand with the spirit of innovation of the founders, with respect for historical Tuscan values. The product line includes wines from the most prestigious Tuscan DOCG appellations to varietal specific wines of great structure, as well as innovative proprietary blends. Carpineto exports the majority of its wine production to over 70 countries worldwide. About 95% of Carpineto’s wine production is red wine, with the majority being wines that are aged three or more years before their release date.
