Wine Advocate 91 points - The 2006 Molin Vecchio is an evolved blend of Sangiovese, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine opens to a brooding dark color and thick, dark concentration. Despite its many years of bottle aging, this bold Tuscan red tastes much younger than it really is. The fresh conditions of the 2006 vintage have done much to preserve the integrity of the fruit that is displayed here with such confidence. Dark cherry, blackberry, licorice, spice and Spanish cedar emerge from the glass. The wine’s density is rich, plush and enduring. Although the oak is reasonably well integrated, you do feel some wood astringency on the finish.
