We produced this Aloxe-Corton Premier Cru from Pinot Noir vines with an average age of just over 45 years, harvested from sites to the east and south-west of the ancient village of Aloxe-Corton. The vines here are planted in a mix of limestone soils with good mineral and iron content, layered through with pebbles. Bottled after 16 months in barrel, this is a wine of real elegance, length and purity which we really hope that you will enjoy.
The concept of Mischief and Mayhem is simple. We want to produce excellent wines from both the Cote d’Or and Chablis that are fairly priced, yet we also wish to revolutionise and simplify the way these wines are marketed, by offering the consumer, detailed and relevant back-label notes in English, on the vineyard site, specific vintage conditions, production details and all other relevant information.
We were continually frustrated that the responsibility and risk of purchasing a bottle of Burgundy was always born by the consumer, as the packaging invariably offered very little detail on the style of the wine and the producer. We believe that Burgundy is a superb region, but like consumers throughout the world we understand that it can be extremely challenging to try to pick and choose between the hundreds of different wines produced throughout the Cote d’Or.
We would therefore like to help both existing lovers of Burgundy, and those who are new to the region, by producing great wines and offering these at fair prices, packaged and labelled with as much useful information as possible, so as to help the individual make an informed choice.
It is our endeavour to produce some of the finest wines that Burgundy can offer - well made, elegant and indvidual wines that epitomise all that is fine about this great region.
With fruit sourced from outstanding vineyard sites and wines offered at fair prices, it is our aim to bring something new and exciting to the marketplace by producing great, terroir-specific wines, packaged in a way that offers detailed information to both the newcomer and the experienced Burgundy buyer.
In doing this, it is our intention to encourage a greater understanding and appreciation of the wines of this wonderful region - we hope that you enjoy our wines and we thank you for your support.
