Wine Advocate 90 points - The 2012 Cuarto Dominio Malbec originated from La Consulta in the Uco Valley. It’s a ripe and well-oaked example with balsamic and spicy aromas and plenty of influence from the elevage (18 months in brand new French oak barrels). In reality the wine has 5% each Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, but as it’s more than 85% Malbec, it’s labeled as such. It feels a little formulaic (expensive, so it has to be oaky and come in a heavy bottle), in a end of the 1990s style. For fans of ripe, oaky reds. It seems to have good stuffing to develop in bottle and absorb the oak, at least to a certain extent. 3,600 bottles produced.
