Wine Spectator 94 points - A rich version, with beautiful integration and mouthwatering acidity that seems to amplify the flavors of toasted raisin bread, black currant, candied orange zest and salted almond. Fresh and focused, showing hints of oyster shell and spice on the lasting finish.
Disgorged September 2014. Drink now through 2030.-A.N. (Sep 16 2015)
Vinous 92 points - (95% chardonnay and 5% pinot noir; L 2193 OM): Bright gold. Complex aromas of fresh pit and orchard fruits, with bright floral and chalky mineral qualities adding lift and focus. Meyer lemon and bitter pear skin flavors are complemented by chamomile and buttery brioche, with a hint of tarragon in the background. Closes smooth, smoky and very long, with bracing citrus fruit qualities adding bite. All of the chardonnay in this blend comes from grand cru sites in Chouilly, Avize, Oger and Mesnil-sur-Oger.
Wine Spectator 94 points - Firm and expressive, with well-cut acidity framing flavors of currant, licorice, bread dough and blanched almond. The mousse is soft and creamy, and this shows hints of mineral, apple and fennel seed that linger on the lasting finish. Drink now through 2022.—A.N. (Oct 10 2012)
The prestigious cuvee Femme de Champagne is the product of the development of select vineyard plots put in place by the House of Duval-Leroy.
The Chardonnay Grand Crus of Mont-Aigu from Chouilly, Chapelle of Avize, Terre de Noel from Oger, and Chetillon and Aillerand from Mesnil sur Oger, are vinified separately in oak barrels to highlight the elegance and vitality, while a touch of Pinot Noir imparts roundness and character.
