Wine Spectator 90 points - Sleek and spicy, with a spice box accent to the wild raspberry and strawberry flavors, graced by whiffs of smoke, a dash of mineral and accents of black tea. Drink now through 2025.-M.W (Jun 10 2015)
Pinot noir is the reason Amisfield exists: the whole winery is geared towards the making of single-estate pinot noir. Amisfield pinot noir is different year to year, with multiple layers of textures and flavours in the glass. There are all the usual cherries and raspberries that you expect from a Pisa pinot noir, but you’ll also find mocha and Black Doris plum. There are fine tannins rather than a big structure.
|Wine maker notes
|The wine is a deep ruby/magenta with a deep concentrated ripe Pinot nose of dark cherries, violets, mocha and spice. The palate is very powerful with lush ripe dark fruits overlaying a seamless powdery tannin profile suggesting hints of cocoa, cedar and minerals. The finish is long and complex with the French oak integrating into the wine perfectly.
|Amisfield Wine Company is a small specialist producer of Pinot Noir, aromatic whites and Methode Traditionelle wines, made with grapes sourced from their vineyard near Lake Dunstan, Central Otago.
'Grown Not Made' is the underlying philosophy of Amisfield. Whether it's the pristine grapes grown to exacting standards by our viticulture team, the world-class wines issuing from our estate winery or the superlative food served at our Bistro at Lake Hayes, Amisfield are now regarded as one of the leading producers of Central Otago.
