Wine maker notes
Single Vineyard Wines. Laborum, “from our work”, is our emblematic line. It is our search for the genuine expression of Cafayate. Laborum is the varietal expression of Cafayate. It is the reflection of our work, our care in the vineyard and integration in the winery, which result in these single varietals with a genuine artisanal focus, and offer us the particular experience of wines that express all the character of their origin. Laborum, our Cafayate footprint on the world. Our varietal makeup showcases the best of the Cafayate terroir, and the line is made up of wines from very low yield (6 tons/hectare) vineyards.

The Romero Marcuzzi family took its first steps in the wine world when Roberto Romero started his first winery four decades ago in Tolombon, a few kilometers from Cafayate. There, among the vineyards and long family summers, began the development of the pillars of the current project: a strong commitment to the site, the highest dedication to the work and a great love and respect for the terroir that has grown through the years. It was in that first winery that Lucia, grand daughter of Roberto Romero and today Director of El Porvenir de Cafayate, took her first steps. In the year 2000 we decided to create a new project with a more exclusive target market, designing a premium winery with small batches of very high quality wine, limiting our production to a maximum of 200,000 bottles per year. With this clear objective, we acquired an old winery that we brought up to date with investments in infrastructure and technology, at the same time successfully restoring the 50 year-old Torrontes and Tannat vineyards. During that period we also planted Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah vines (among other varietals) in a new vineyard. Today, the winery based in Cafayate is managed by Lucia Romero- Marcuzzi, who works with a distinguished team of 50 people following the legacy of their ancestors with a remarkable innovative spirit. We are working to proudly show Argentina and the world the footprint of Cafayate in each of our wines.
